My cousin, Hannah, lives in Florida.  Even though we are a thousand miles apart and only see each other twice a year, Hannah is the best friend I have ever had.  I can think of many people I see several times a week, and yet they are just people I’ve seen.  I see the guy at the pizza parlor each week, but still he is just the guy that makes pizza.  It is not that I don’t appreciate them, I do.  I just don’t have a strong relationship with them.

Friendship is like a living thing.  It starts small and weak.  You need to feed it for it to grow.  Like a living thing, you have to keep feeding friendship, emailing, writing, or calling your friend.  The more you feed it, the bigger and stronger it grows. Also like a living thing, friendship has hard times.  There are always bumps in the road, but as long as you keep driving your friendship will stay strong.

If you knew Hannah, you would know me and her are not the same.  She lives in Florida, I live in New York, She goes to school, I am homeschooled, She is 11, I am 10.  In our differences, we also have a lot of similarities.   We both like the same kind of things.   But we still are different, and that is a good thing.

Lets say I need to ask her what her opinion is on a book i’m writing.  If we thought the same exact way, I would get no where.  Her opinion wouldn’t matter, because we would think the same way.  Being different is what makes each person unique and special.  It’s what makes you, you.  God made each person unique, not robots, but androids.  Robots don’t think for themselves, while androids have minds of the own.  Humans, are sort of like androids, but better.

We both have the hard times in life, the rocky roads, and help each other to get through it.  Whenever I have an idea, she is one of the first people I will tell.  She is there to support me, and I will always be there to support her.  We are both creative and smart*, and think alike.

*I hope I am smart.  You will have to ask her*

Friendship is a key part to life.  Having a friend will help you, and will give you things to look forward to.  It will make you a stronger person, and many memories will come out of it.

In conclusion,

Me and Hannah are best friends because we understand each other.  We are there during the hard times in life, and help each other through it.  I will never forget that.
