Recently in my history book, I was learning about the colonies in the 17th century.  I thought it was cool how each colony was different.  There were colonies created for Quakers, and colonies just for Puritans.  Colonies where you had to go to church, and colonies where you would be punished if you went to church.

I personally think that religion was a big part of history.  Think about it.  The Pilgrims came to America because of religion.  Quakers were put in jail because of their religion.  Maryland was built to help Roman Catholics as well.  A lot of things depended on religion!

Another big part of history were slaves.  About 1 million people were kidnapped from Africa to work for the rest of their lives.  Imagine that.  Imagine being captured and knowing you will work until your death.  It really makes you understand how hard it was for the slaves.

So obviously, I think having slaves is WRONG!!!

And I am greatful that there is a law against it.

Another big change in history was schooling.  Benjamin Franklin was a big supporter of education, while some people hated the idea of school.

Then I got wondering.  If I had a colony, what would it be like?

That made me think of an idea.  What if I had a series of posts all about my colony?

So I made it.

In the upcoming weeks there will be posts about the transportation, food, religion, homes, education, and people of my town.
