Just a few months ago, I didn’t think I would ever move. I thought I would stay in my town for at least five years. I was certain of that. But in one month, my future changed drastically.
So I am going to start at the beginning. Why did we like North Carolina? Well, in April we were taking an 18 hour road trip down to Florida. On the way back, we stopped in a hotel in Florence, South Carolina. We really liked the area, and thought it was beautiful. During that time we didn’t know we were moving. We were just taking a vacation.
We knew that we still wanted to have 4 seasons. We didn’t want the weather to be too cold or too hot, and not too much snow. South Carolina was a little too hot, and dosen’t really have winter. It turns out North Carolina has the best weather, and was just what we were looking for.
I personally love all the seasons. I love summer, because you can go to the beach on hot days. I love fall, because of the beautiful leaves and cool breeze. I love winter because of the snow (but not shoveling). And I love spring, because of the perfect temperature. I think North Carolina has a lot of variety, but not too much snow. It will be great for our family.
And the beach is only 1 1/2 hours away! We could go once a month or something! That would be awesome. Who dosen’t love the beach?
Also, I like North Carolina because we will be closer to Florida. My grandparents and cousins live there, so we could see them more often. As I said in a recent post, friendship is important, and we will have more time to spend together.
And, I know this is a grownup thing, but there are less taxes. The houses are more affordable. How can you say no to that?
So no matter how you look at it, North Carolina is a great place to live.
Anyway, a few weeks later we found out our realtor had a couple interested in our house. They were having a baby in July, so we would have to move out by then. We were excited that we would have to move quickly, but also stressed because it came out of nowhere. We would have to spend a lot of time packing and looking for houses. A little while after, they looked at our house and decided they didn’t want it. We realized we still wanted to move, and got inspired to put our house on the market.
Just last Sunday, we had a new couple look at our house. We heard the realtor say, “Do you want to see the rest of the house before you make your final decision?” We thought they hated the house, but it turns out they loved it and wanted it no matter what. We told them everything that happened, and they wanted no inspection. They even offered us free storage, to keep our boxes in the basement as long as we want.
We were all going crazy! We just made more money and got new buyers. We just hope everything will go good with those contracts….
It is a lot to move, but we are in a good position. We are home schooled, and my parents work at home. We are able to stop and move without worrying about anything like that.
I love being home schooled. I love how there is no certain timing, and if you have trouble with something you can just simply ask for help. You can go on more class trips, and learn things you would have never learned in school. There is more time for family, and I have a closer bond to my mom, as my teacher because of it.
I also think that its great that my dad owns his own business. He can choose when he wants to work, and as long as he works hard he can have days off. We get to spend more family time that way, which makes us all happier.
Moving is kind of like driving. You can be going on a steady path, or have bumps in the road. You will meet lots of other people, and sometimes there are accidents. There may be stop signs and red lights, but eventually the lights will turn green. And when you’ve completed the course, you will reach the finish line.
I want to move because I want to get a new start for my family. I want us to all be able to have a bigger house and more friends in a new town. I think it will be a great opportunity, for all of us. I can’t wait! I will keep you all posted on what happens….
